New Delhi: The BJP conducted a 'Thank You Modi ji' rally in north Delhi's Burari, praising Prime Minister Narendra Modi for his decisions to resume land mutation in rural villages and eliminate mandatory no objection certificates for power connections in certain areas of the city. Delhi BJP chief Virendra Sachdeva hailed these moves as a "Diwali gift" for residents of villages and unauthorized colonies. He stated that these significant issues were resolved following meetings between BJP MPs and LG VK Saxena, crediting the sensitive response from the Narendra Modi government at the center. In his address, Sachdeva highlighted that the removal of the NOC requirement for electricity connections benefitted millions in unauthorized colonies and non-conforming areas, while also reopening property mutations in Delhi's villages after a two-decade hiatus.
In response, AAP accused the BJP of attempting to claim credit for the work done by the Delhi government and misleading the public. AAP pointed out that Delhi provides the cheapest electricity nationwide and questioned why none of the 22 BJP-governed states offer free electricity if the concern for people was genuine. The AAP alleged that the BJP was trying to deceive the people of Delhi.
During the rally, Sachdeva emphasized that due to restrictions, property owners were unable to transfer their assets to their descendants, which was resolved by withdrawing the mutation restrictions after BJP's intervention. He also mentioned the elimination of DDA's NOC requirement for electricity connections in unauthorized colonies. Sachdeva expressed confidence in the BJP's chances of winning the upcoming elections in February and promised that their government would extend electricity and water subsidies to middle-class households. The top priorities on the agenda include the implementation of the Prime Minister's housing scheme, Ayushman Bharat, and the regularization of temporary workers such as home guards, bus marshals, and guest teachers. Sachdeva emphasized that no slum would be demolished without providing alternative housing to residents under the BJP government. Additionally, he mentioned plans to make the Yamuna free of pollution within a year as part of the Nirmal Yamuna Plan.
